Your mission will be to:
Purpose (Objective):
The incumbent is responsible for the arrival of samples to the lab for testing.
The incumbent supervises departmental personnel conducting sample pickups.
Main activities:
Supervise the activities of departmental personnel to ensure operations are in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and assigned tasks.
Communicate any emerging client requirements to laboratory personnel as needed.
Communicate procedural and operational difficulties and delays to client service personnel, salesperson or the client as required.
Administer corporate human resource programs relating to employee recruitment and retention, compensation, training and development, equal employment opportunity, performance appraisal, and employment record documentation.
Educate and train departmental personnel on correct procedures.
Evaluate courier routes on a routine basis and adjust as needed based on client needs.
Arrange and document work schedules for departmental personnel so that all routes are completed to maintain effective and efficient operations.
Assist departmental personnel with covering routes as needed Responsible for the maintenance of fleet of vehicles to ensure they remain in good working order (oil changes, repairs as needed, replacement as needed) Monitor emails on a daily basis Monitor and approve time cards for compliance to company and state requirements Maintain knowledge of Google apps (Gmail, Google docs, etc.
) as required to complete job responsibilities.
Ensure that employees obtain knowledge sufficient to perform job responsibilities.
Support corporate quality and continuous improvement process.
Perform other related tasks as needed YOUR PROFILE Profile (required education/qualifications and professional background):
High school diploma with 2-5 years of relevant work experience.
A general knowledge of food safety is necessary to understand the proper transport of client samples.
Required skills:
This position requires a broad knowledge in the fields of:
Vehicle Mechanics and Maintenance, Customer Service, Transportation via Road Transport, and Team Building/Managing.
A broad knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and policies is necessary to ensure a safe working environment.
A general knowledge of software used to monitor routes and communicate to internal and external customers is required.
Incumbent must maintain a clean driving record Management (Size and characteristics of the team(s)):
The incumbent will oversee a team of up to 20 Couriers stationed at multiple sites, some several hours away.
In order to be successful in this role the candidate must be able to work with all employees to achieve common goals.
Work Environment:
The incumbent will spend time in a laboratory office setting with proper lighting and temperature control a majority of the time.
However, occasional driving will be required.
Occasional exposure to laboratory fumes, chemicals, and materials will occur when in the laboratory.
Also, time spent in or around vehicles and all applicable odors and fumes will occur.
Lastly, time will be spent in an office setting working at a computer to create reports, ensure coverage of all schedules, and other general supervisory tasks.
At all times the required PPE shall be utilized.
